Business Summary

Wabanaki Maple is a unique maple syrup company established in 2018, 100% Indigenous female-owned. Located in Neqotkuk (Tobique) First Nation NB, we present a twist on traditional maple syrup, aging it in previously used bourbon, whisky, rum, and oak barrels. This aging process gives the syrup a warm and sophisticated flavour. For centuries, Indigenous Peoples cherished and harvested sap from maple trees across Canada. At Wabanaki Maple, our goal is to reconnect people and communities to our traditional history and healing abilities of maple syrup, while sharing the rich and memorable flavour of our products across Canada and the United States.

Expertise

Since expanding our facility and operations, we’ve over doubled our team. As of today, we are a team of seven. We’ve introduced key staff to manage everyday operations, order fulfillment, marketing, sales, and exporting. As we continue to grow and expand into new markets, our team will be growing by an additional 2 to 4 people in 2023.

Over the past several years of operations we’ve built strong relationships with our suppliers. We’ve ensured our suppliers are proficient in supplying us as we continue to grow and expand our available inventory.

Facilities & Equipment

In May of 2022, we expanded our facility to a new custom building designed to meet our current operations and future growth plans. The facility is 4800 sqft with a manufacturing, packaging and storage space on its main floor. Additionally, the upper level of the facility holds 2 office spaces and a common area.

Within the year of our expansion, we produced over 50,000 bottles of maple syrup. We were able to produce these numbers while facing the pandemic, moving operations, implementing new equipment, and management softwares.

Our current equipment at our facility allows us to produce up to 400,000 bottles of maple syrup per year, with a plan to upgrade our equipment as we grow. With the upgrades to our equipment, this will allow us to reach 2 500 000 bottles of maple syrup per year within our current facility.
