Candied Marinated Salmon using Wabanaki Maple Syrup

Marinated Candied Salmon

Ingriedients

  • 6x (4-6 oz.) Salmon Portions
  • 4 tbsp 60 ml Wabanaki Maple Syrup
  • 2 tbsp 30 ml Soy Sauce
  • 3 each Garlic Cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp 30 ml Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp 30 ml Rice Vinegar
  • 1/8 tsp 0.63 ml Salt
  • 1/8 tsp 0.63 ml Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp 15 ml Canola Oil

Method:

  1. Place salmon portions in a resealable plastic bag or container.
  2. Combine maple syrup, soy sauce, garlic, brown sugar, rice vinegar, and salt & pepper in a small bowl. Whisk until ingredients are combined and brown sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour marinade over salmon portions. Remove air from the bag before sealing and marinate for 1 hour in the refrigerator.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F.
  5. Remove salmon from the bag and reserve marinade.
  6. In an oven safe non-stick pan, heat oil over medium-high heat.
  7. Sear both sides of the salmon, approximately 1-2 minutes per side.
  8. Remove the pan from the heat and add half of the marinade into the pan.
  9. Place the pan in the oven and cook salmon for an additional 12-15 minutes, depending on the size.
  10. Once cooked, remove the pan from the oven and serve hot with your favourite side dishes.

Chef’s Tip: Drizzle some of the sauce remaining in the pan overtop of the salmon before serving.
