Maple & Cinnamon Cookies using Traditional Maple Syrup

Maple & Cinnamon Mummy Cookies

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1-1/2 cups brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup of Wabanaki pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp of vanilla extract
  • vanilla frosting (ready made or your favorite frosting recipe)
  • Candy eyes (20-24 sets)
  • decorators piping bag with flat tip
  • In a large mixing bowl, add dry ingredients together, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon and salt, and set aside.
  • In a separate bowl, add brown sugar, maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Stir well and then add egg, continue mixing until everything is combined.
  • Combine the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, use a hand mixer on low speed until all ingredients are combined.
  • Preheat oven to 375F
  • On a large cookie sheet, scoop approximately 10 - 12 cookie balls and space them 2 inches apart.
  • Bake for 10-12 minutes.
  • Let cool before adding the frosting and decorating.
