Chipotle Infused Maple Syrup Stovetop Baked Beans

Yield: 4-6 servings

Cook Time: 15-20 minutes 

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup 125 ml Bacon, diced – approximately 3 strips
  • 1 cup 250 ml Onions, small dice
  • 1 tsp 5 ml Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp 5 ml Paprika
  • ¼ tsp 1.25 ml Salt
  • ¼ tsp 1.25 ml Black Pepper
  • 1/3 cup 82.5 ml Wabanaki Maple Chipotle Maple Syrup
  • 1 tbsp 15 ml Molasses
  • 1 tsp 5 ml Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 can (19 oz.) 540 ml Pinto Beans, drained & rinsed 

Method: 

  1. Heat a medium pot over medium heat; add bacon and cook for 3 minutes, stirring often.
  2. Add onions and cook for an additional 6-8 minutes, stirring often until onions begin to soften. Add a splash of water if the bottom of the pot begins to brown.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, chipotle infused maple syrup, molasses, and Worcestershire sauce. 
  4. Add pinto beans, bring mixture to a simmer, and cook, stirring often, for 7-8 minutes. 
  5. Remove baked beans from heat and serve warm.  

Chef’s Tip: try using thick cut bacon or pancetta if desired, adjust bacon cooking time as
