Maple Candied Bacon using Wabanaki Maple Syrup

Maple Candied Bacon


  • 1 pkg 375 grams Bacon 
  •  1/3 cup 82.5 ml Brown Sugar



  1. Preheat oven to 400F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil for easy clean up. 
  2. Place a baking rack onto the baking sheet.
  3. Place the bacon in a single layer on the baking rack.
  4. Combine maple syrup and brown sugar in a bowl; stir well. 
  5. Brush each piece of bacon with the maple syrup mixture. 
  6. Bake for 15 minutes, flip bacon over, brush with remaining maple syrup mixture. 
  7. Continue cooking for 10-12 minutes or to desired crispiness. 
  8. Remove bacon from oven and serve warm with your favourite breakfast items.

Chef’s Tip:

  • Thick cut bacon works very well in this recipe, use 2-3 pieces per person and follow the same method as above. 
  • Try adding 2 tsp Dijon mustard and some cracked black pepper to the maple syrup mixture for a zesty flavour boost.
